We are seeking a candidate who is a skilled programmer, but also develops good software.

The ideal candidate’s software development experience should include strong adherence to object oriented design principles, such as tight encapsulation, high cohesion and DRY. A technically talented individual who can problem-solve, think both independently and collaboratively and also see the “big picture” are prerequisites for this position. This position reports to the Vice President of Technical Engineering.

Skills

PHP, SQL, OOP, XML, (Design Patterns, UML, C# or C++ or Ruby on Rails or Java all desirable), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax

Requirements

* BA or BS in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics.
* 3+ years of hands-on development experience in a professional Internet and/or Intranet environment.
* Strong PHP skills, espcially using the object-oriented features.
* Experience with object-oriented programming and design. Having worked in Java, C#, C++ or Ruby on Rails are definite advantages.
* Good understanding of MVC framework.
* Excellent working knowledge of SQL and XML. Experience with MySQL specifically, is desirable.
* Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Ajax.
* Experience working in a *nix development environment and being comfortable with the shell prompt.
* Experience working with source control systems in a collaborative environment, such as Subversion (or CVS).
* Experience or knowledge of UML and/or Design Patterns is desirable.
* Strong quantitative and analytical skills with an interest in developing creative solutions by thinking “out of the box”.
* Interest in creating, refining and adhering to development standards.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to discuss technical concepts with non-technical personnel.
* The ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects in a fast-paced, but fun environment.
* Enthusiasm, personality, teamwork and a positive attitude count tremendously.

The qualifying candidate will work as part of a small team of very smart developers, and interact with consultants, on-shore and off-shore resources.

Preferred Qualifications

* Familiarity with the Facebook development API
