MeSoft is a startup creating next-generation video collaboration and editing applications built around social networking. In this key role within a small and focused team, you will be responsible for architecting and administering our server infrastructure as we scale up to serving millions of users. Your prior experience configuring and administering servers for large-scale web applications will be instrumental in rolling out our exciting and unique web and social networking applications.

Job Responsibilities:

* Set up, maintain and optimize web servers by designing, installing and configuring Linux-based servers to handle Rails/Flash-based web applications as well as video upload, download and transcoding
* Optimize performance of servers by analyzing web site traffic, generating reports, and identifying optimization strategies
* Automate the monitoring of web server health, performance, and security. Create scripts to simulate high-load conditions and other stress tests in order to identify performance bottlenecks in advance
* Troubleshoot errors, security and performance issues and work with engineers to resolve them

Minimum Skills and Experience:

* Experience administering and performance-tuning Linux systems, server clusters, MySQL, load balancers, etc.
* Strong knowledge of Linux system installation and configuration
* Experience scaling a production environment to a large number of users with high availability 24×7
* Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking, http, DNS, DHCP, caching, database and server optimization
* Strong verbal and written communications skills
* Knowledge of database concepts and comfortable with SQL
* Industry experience on the server side of a widely-used web based application.
* Strong troubleshooting skills
* Programming expertise with a dynamic scripting language such as Python, Perl or Ruby (and familiarity with regular expressions)
* Ability to create, debug and maintain complex scripts
* Familiarity with server performance analysis and tuning, QOS, and scalability issues

Preferred Skills and Experience:

* Ruby on Rails
* Video download or streaming media delivery
* Experience with Akamai or other CDN
* Experience with applications for Facebook or other social networking platform
* Amazon web services including S3 and EC2
* Experience with Perforce or similar SCM
