• Familybuilder is a NYC software company that builds genealogy and family-oriented applications for online social networks.

Requirements:

• We are looking for a developer to work in our New York City office. Candidates will work with the Facebook API and the OpenSocial API with applications hosted on Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP. We are looking for candidates with a background in scaling applications and networking experience. The code that you write will be used by millions of people worldwide.
• Successful candidate must understand what makes applications social and should have experience within the Facebook and OpenSocial APIs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills are a must.
• This position will sometimes involve working late hours and weekends – a flexible schedule is required.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience developing Internet applications using the following technologies: PHP / JavaScript / CSS / AJAX/REST APIs
• Minimum 1 year of experience architecting highly scalable systems
• Minimum 2 years of object oriented design experience

Desired:

• Experience developing mid-large Facebook applications is a huge plus
• LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP)
• AWS – Amazon Web Services (High Performance Creative Use – Learning opportunity)
• Linux Server Administration – General understanding
• Linux OS command line comfortable
• Shell Scripting
• PHP Command-line Scripting
• PERL is very helpful – light understanding is acceptable
• Apache Administration
• MySQL administration
• PHP Programming – adherence to best practices with an emphasis on documentation
• BS in Computer Science is a plus
