Position Reports to: Director, Software Engineering
Position Length: Full-time, permanent

Position Summary:

JibJab Media Inc is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to focus on Facebook Platform development. You will play a key role on a world-class technology team.  Do you love JibJab AND Facebook? Is your idea of a good time at work tooling around with JavaScript, FBML, Flash, and maybe some Ruby on Rails?  This is probably your dream job.  Scratch that — this is definitely your dream job.

Job Description:

• Integrate various components of the JibJab platform with Facebook, and integrate features of Facebook into the JibJab platform.
• Design and implement new product features for Facebook-specific JibJab apps.
• Work with a passion for quality and maintainability.  Job one is “no broken windows.”

Job Requirements:

• At least 1 year of web software development experience in multiple programming environments.
• You need to have built a Facebook app that you can show us.  Be familiar with FBML and the various capabilities of the Facebook Platform.
• Understanding of web application basics, such as: HTTP, cookies and state, database access, and object-oriented design.
• Knowledge of Web 2.0 technologies such as XML, JavaScript, and development with SOAP and REST services.
• Positive attitude an absolute must, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.  We are not a huge team, and we need to work well together.

About our technology:

• Ruby on Rails is the primary programming environment – but we are constantly pushing the envelope and experimenting with new frameworks and technologies.  You don’t have to be an expert, but working knowledge is definitely helpful.
• Linux is the primary production operating system, with a Postgres backend.
• Flash, QuickTime, and numerous other rich media technologies form a large component of our ingestion and presentation platforms.
• Web 2.0 technologies such as AJAX, Javascript, CSS, XHTML, REST, SOAP, and XSLT are important components of our stack.
• Most of us work on Macs every day, but we’re not religious about it.
