Company: Context Optional

Category: Software Development

Location: San Franicsco, CA

How to Apply: jobs@contextoptional.com

Description:

Context Optional works with the world’s leading brands to build their presence on the top social networks. Our rapidly-growing San Francisco-based development team designs and builds fun, clever, snarky, unique, viral and engaging applications for social networks like Facebook, Bebo, and hi5.

The company is profitable and at the center of some of the most exciting activity on social networks. Recent clients include Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Paramount Pictures, Samsung, OpenTable, Hearst Corporation, and StubHub (division of eBay).

We are seeking software developers who:

  • Like to build things and see them gain a wide audience.
  • Are personable and professional enough to interact directly with large brands and clients.
  • Will never shy away from a technical problem simply because it’s not in their job description.
  • Are looking to learn new skills, whether it’s a new framework, taking on product management tasks, recruiting, or interfacing with clients.
  • Have built software in their free time just because they wanted to try out an idea.
  • Are creative and capable of more than just implementing a spec handed to them by a product manager.

Most of our work is in Ruby on Rails, so prior experience with that framework is desirable. If you’re really smart and can pick up a new language rapidly, we should still talk :) Previous experience with Facebook (developing apps, or just deep knowledge of how it works) is a plus.

Application Genius

Must be organized and have excellent communication skills, though previous consulting work is not required.

Benefits include stock options, health/vision/dental insurance, 401k, casual office environment, and Xbox with Rock Band in the office — we’ll even let you take the microphone.
