Getting the most out of Facebook’s new page post link ad format
As you may have noticed, Facebook has boosted the image size for their link share ads and organic posts, challenging marketers to take a more visual approach. Now when a page or person shares a link, the image takes up a large amount of real estate within News Feed.
According to the Facebook + Journalists page, the ideal image size for these posts is now 1200 pixels x 627 pixels, with the minimum being 560 x 292.
Facebook has been constantly pushing for a focus on big, bold images. When the company released the newest version of News Feed, the photos were the most striking feature, pressuring marketers to give more thought to how images are featured. Many pages have started posting a photo with a link to the website within the text prompt.
The update Facebook announced Tuesday fixes this. Now, when a user clicks on either the image or the text on a link post, they will be taken to the website. This will lead to a higher click-through rate and more exposure for a page’s website through these posts.
Facebook also released the specs for text with the new ads. The company recommends using page link posts to get website conversions and generate leads.
The company recommends a max text of 90 characters with a link title of 25 characters, an image ratio of 1.91:1 and an image size of 1200 x 627 px.
There is a text limit of 500 characters (remainder truncated). If the image uploaded is smaller than 400 x 209 pixels, it will render as 154 x 154 or 90 x 90 (the largest available size). Links to external video, such as YouTube are limited to the 90 x 90 pixel design.

Text limit of 110 characters, with the remainder truncated (there’s a cutoff at roughly 2.5 lines if there’s unusual spacing). The title will take up 1 to 2 lines, with the domain link taking 1 line and the description up to 1 line. The image aspect ratio is the same as desktop, at 1.91:1 and an image size of 560 x 292 pixels. If the image is smaller than this, it will render at 100 x 100. Links to external video are limited to 100 x 100 pixels.

Text limit of 90 characters, with the remainder truncated. The link title has a limit of 25 characters. The image aspect ratio is 1.39:1 with an image spec of 100 x 72 pixels.
