Facebook can now be shared with the web through embeddable posts

Facebook wants to help pages get more exposure by allowing them to embed posts outside of the social network. Facebook announced Wednesday that select pages can embed posts elsewhere on the Web. This way, pages and prominent Facebook members can have an aesthetically-pleasing way to link to Facebook posts on websites.

For now, Facebook is allowing this for Bleacher ReportCNNHuffington PostMashable and PEOPLE, but more people and pages will have this capability later.

Facebook announced this in a blog post:

Today, we are beginning to roll out Embedded Posts to make it possible for people to bring the most compelling, timely public posts from Facebook to the rest of the web.

Embedded Posts let people add public posts from Facebook to their blog or web site. When embedded, posts can include pictures, videos, hashtags and other content. People can also like and share the post directly from the embed.

This could be huge for pages and celebrities who have this feature. It would allow Mashable or Bleacher Report to link back to its Facebook page, convincing more people into like the page. Only posts that are set as public can be embedded. Users will be able to share and like content directly from the embedded post without having to visit Facebook.

People can also click on the hashtag in the embedded post to be connected to other Facebook content including that hashtag.

To embed a post (if you discover that you have this ability), click on the carrot on the top-right corner of the post, then select embed post. Facebook will then produce code to place into the website.

Users will not be able to customize how the post appears on their website. If the post is later deleted or made private, there will be a notice saying the post is no longer available.
