Mobile app install ads are the latest in Facebook’s ad simplification push

Facebook’s move to simplify advertising has reached mobile. The company announced this week that it has simplified the creation flow for mobile app install ads, allowing advertisers to simply enter a link to the app in the App Store (for Apple) or Google Play (Android), without having to first register the app with Facebook.

Developers can then choose the target audience and set their budget, and their ad is live.

A Facebook Developers blog post explained the new process for creating a mobile app install ad:

  • Enter their app URL.
  • Customize their ad (by selecting a title and creative).
  • Choose their target audience (including geography, age, operating system, interests, etc.).
  • Set their budget.
