G.I. Joe, Titanic, Rocky and others among this week’s top PTAT gainers for movie pages

G.I. Joe is this week’s top gaining page in the People Talking About This metric for movie pages. The page is the main hub for the entire G.I. Joe franchise on Facebook. The main focus of the page is to promote the franchise’s newest movie, G.I. Joe Retaliation, releasing in theaters on March 29th.

Out of the top 10 pages last week, Safe Haven is the only one currently in theaters. The other nine pages are currently available in stores.

This list is compiled with our PageData tool, which tracks page growth across Facebook.

G.I. Joe saw the majority of its engagement from a photo post published on Monday. The post saw over a thousand shares which could be possibly be credited to the President’s Day holiday for some. The post appeals to the patriotic tone of the potential audience as well as the film itself. The increased shares could also be due to more people browsing the news feed on the day off.

The majority of the films in the top 10 this week feature strong story lines about love and romance. Number 2 on this week’s list, Titanic, saw over 200,000 likes for a post published last Thursday, Valentine’s Day. Though these pages may have not seen posts this successful in other weeks, they still have collected a large amount of page likes which aided in the Valentine’s Day boost.
