Facebook today announced that it will start including search history in users’ Activity Logs. The feature will be rolled out to all users in the next few weeks.

The feature allows for users to view and delete all or some of their past searches. There is currently no way for users to share their search history with friends in the same way that Bing offers.

The Activity Log, introduced with Timeline at Facebook’s f8 Conference last year, is a private log of a user’s activity since he or she joined Facebook. From this page, users can control what they share with their friends. Facebook emphasizes that each user only has full access to their own Activity Log, including their search activity.

Search activity has always been private, but now Facebook is giving users an option to delete certain queries they make. It’s unclear whether it plans to give users an option to share searches in the future, or whether this is simply about giving users more control especially as it tests search-based ads called Sponsored Results.
