The top entries on the list — Phrases, Birthday Calendar, Windows Live Messenger, Are YOU Interested? and so forth — have appeared quite regularly of late. So today we’ll skip over those to talk about some interesting apps that appear further down.
First off, take a look at the latest Playdom game, ESPNU College Town. This is a branded title built in partnership with ESPN, another property controlled by Playdom’s new owner Disney. While much like Playdom’s earlier title City of Wonder, ESPNU revolves around brand partnerships, and gives a hint of how Disney may use its acquisition in the future. We reviewed it yesterday on Inside Social Games.
Moving down to number 13, HTC Sense racked 67,267 new DAU over the week, while Samsung Mobile added 56,523. Both of these mobile connect apps represent brands rather than operating systems (HTC Sense, for instance, is an interface for either Android or Windows phones). Judging from the growth numbers, HTC and Samsung are both excelling with their new smartphone lines.
And Social Statistics, at number 18, is showing some interesting growth. This app looks at your friends to determine your “fans” and the compatibility between you and specific friends. Facebook’s developer rules mean that Social Statistics isn’t actually working with much information, but users don’t seem to care how scientific its measurements are; the app has quickly grown to over 50,000 DAU in just a couple weeks.
