Phrases, Other Quiz Apps Draw Millions on This Week’s List of Fastest-Gaining Facebook Apps by MAU
It has been over a week since Phrases became the second-largest app on Facebook, as measured by monthly active users, but the user-generated quiz and quote app keeps chugging along. With 2.8 million new users, it’s the top entry on this week’s AppData list of fastest-gaining apps by MAU:

The surprising thing about Phrases is that it’s not an incredibly well-designed app. Instead, it seems to be breaking into multiple international audiences across Facebook for its huge numbers. We wrote a bit more about the app last week.
Friend Facts™, with 2.2 million MAU, come in at second place. This is a friend quiz, meaning that it has users answer pre-defined questions about their friends; the setup is a bit different from Phrases or Quiz Planet, which appears at number seven, both of which have users create their own quizzes. Nevertheless, all fall in the quiz category, which is doing as well as ever.
Causes is continuing the climb it began two weeks ago. Likewise, the dating app Are YOU Interested? has broken 10 million MAU and shows no signs of stopping, despite a low user rating of 1.9 / 5, which seems to stem from user displeasure over having to pay to communicate with others on the service.

A somewhat smaller app that only recently appeared on the list, at number 16 today, is Flixter’s Rotten Tomatoes. This is the movie rating service that many know and love; however, it’s worth noting that users also give this app a low rating, with many angered over the app auto-posting to their walls.
