WebMediaBrands Acquires The Social Times

WebMediaBrands, a company that publishes sites like mediabistro, learnnetwork, freelanceconnect, and semanticweb, has acquired Washington, DC-based Social Times, publisher of the Social Times and All Facebook blogs, the two companies announced yesterday. Nick O’Neill, founder of The Social Times, will be joining the WebMediaBrands team, which is headquartered out of New York.

Since starting All Facebook in 2007, O’Neill expanded coverage to include MySpace, Twitter, social advertising, and a variety of other topics with Social Times. The company also runs a social media training program called New Media School, as well as an annual conference.

O’Neill says he plans to continue running both sites, and WebMediaBrands CEO Alan Meckler says the company is looking to make more acquisitions. Congrats, Nick!
