MAKE YOUR PRESENCE IN OTHER PEOPLES PUBLICLY SHARED FRIENDS LIST OPTIONAL!

I mainly use Facebook for apps and if I add someone as a "Friend" I want this to be completely my decision. This doesn't seem such a hard thing to do, scrutinizing the privacy settings (putting most stuff on 'Friends Only' and choosing to be found by Search only by Friends. This how I can stick my info mostly to myself.

Wrong. The problem to remain 'invisible' (your profile is private and you cannot be 'found') is in the following: you still show up in others people publicly shared profile! It should be my decision to whether or not show up there. Any thoughts on this? This option is gravely missed. I don't want people to add me and know that I'm on FB simply because I'm in their friends Friends List.

Seriously can we bring the old privacy back. The new privacy is almost as bad as myspace. At least in myspace you could somewhat hide your friends. All this did was make all the hidden people I didn't want others to see now visible. You would think if they were to improve something they would just add to the old settings.

PLZ, bring the old privacy setting back. I don't like the fact that people can see my profile pic, add me as friend or viewing my fav. pages. I DON'T want friends of friends to add me. It's my account and I want to do what ever I want to it. BING THE OLD PRIVACY SETTINGS BACK!

Very nice article Eric. The screen shots are great as well as your interpretation of what's behind the changes and what's to come!
