I really like how you describe how exactly a company can use social media (facebook more specifically) to promote their company and upcoming events. The example of the "Salvation Army" post is a classic example of how to reach a large amount of people without using threatening advertising. This way, people almost feel liek going to the Salvation Army was their idea. Bravo blogger!

This is a great idea for businesses! People now read most of their news and advertisements online.Companies that are not utlizing social medai will be left behind. I also agree that places like the Salvation Army can really benefit from this type of marketing. Writing posts on facebook, such as the one above,is a non threatening way to get your message out to people.

Just checked with Sears and they said that it should be coming back on Wednesday but still really cool. Love this article as watching what big brands are doing with their Facebook pages really helps me develop creative ideas to improve my fan page.

I would really like to see more blogs, polls, and shop type applications added to my favorite brand pages and surprising to see how many don't use the tools currently available on Facebook.

Most I have learned of from InsideFacebook.com so can't take credit for these but my favorite ones so far that are making my fan page stuffed and engaging are:

Social RSS for my blog posts - http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=23798139265

ShopTab for my products to show on my Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/ShopTabApp

Facebook Video - http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=2392950137

Slideshare for showing off my presentations - http://www.facebook.com/applications/SlideShare/2490221586
