What I have noticed is that Zynga has recognized the issue and is encouraging users to become "fans" of the games.
There is a reason for this shift I believe.
1. Individual game stories will have a hard time making the algorithm feed as they have NO engagement.
2. Fan pages for BIG games receive HUGE amounts of engagements. From likes to comments these stories may remain in a persons feed for hours.

I might suggestion tracking likes and comments on apps just to get this new measurement!

The algorithm approach to social media profile views makes perfect sense. I feel like Facebook has been gearing up for this presentation style for awhile now. It will only enhance the user experience and cut down on the random-ness that has dominated News Feeds for the past 4 years.
