While gaming continued their strong performance on our AppData list of the 20 fastest-growing Facebook applications over the past week, simple gifting and quiz apps appeared to do even better.

To be sure, Zynga‘s hit game FarmVille came in first yet again, adding 3.44 million people to reach 53.7  million monthly active users. But the next five apps on the list — most of which gained at least 1 million users — were not games.

Friend Facts, an app that scours you and your Facebook friend’s data for interesting patterns, grew from almost nothing to 3.25 million monthly actives in the past week. Make-your-own-quiz app Quizzer came in at number three, gaining 1.98 million to reach 5.24 million. Birthday Cards, RockYou‘s gifting app, continued weeks of growth with 1.86 million for 20.8 million monthly actives, and the number four position. Number five went to Status Statistics, which analyzes your status updates for patterns — it also blew up, growing 1.67 million to reach 2.05 million monthly actives. What will happen with you tomorrow, a simple app that asks a single, clumsily-worded question, gained 983,000 to end with 1.14 million.

Finally, at number seven, was another game, and also from Zynga: Its virtual world, YoVille. It gained 936,000 to total 18.5 million monthly actives.

Now, for some other notable apps on the list. Chinese virtual aquarium game My Fishbowl grew 576,000 to reach 4.77 million, making it the leading international game on the platform. Facebook’s own mobile app continued to surge, growing 552,000 to end at 12.5 million monthly actives. Meanwhile, Friend of the Day, Death’s Time and Enemy of the Day, three popular apps from Argentinian developer 3happybytes, once again made appearances.

So, while games continued to grow, it was at a slightly slower pace than in past weeks. Overall, the top 20 apps on the list gained 21.2 million users in the past week, off from the 24.0 million that the previous week’s top 20 gained.
