Facebook’s Share UI Updates to Encourage More Public Sharing, Better SEO

Facebook Marketing Bible

Earlier today, Facebook said it would be pushing out an updated version of its “Facebook Share” UI in order to to make it more “consistent with other forms of sharing on Facebook.” The most interesting part of the new share UI? New privacy controls.

Now, each time you use Facebook Share to post content to your Facebook Profile, you’ll be shown a privacy control enabling you to share content publicly. This will make posting links via Facebook Share more valuable for publishers – now, in addition to organic traffic generation through Facebook’s viral feeds, webmasters will get SEO benefits as well.

In addition, Facebook recently launched an API for web developers to more powerfully integrate Facebook Share into their site by customizing the format of the shared feed story.
