I agree that they need to find a niche and a voice that suites them better.
The arts and entertainment venues seem to fit, as the more creative types tend to want to personalize their "Space".
I could see a time when My Space could be the center clearing house of art and entertainment.

Sort of the super magazine rack + monster music library + huge party resource center.

For this to work, they would need to work they and Facebook would need to agree to share the users. In one, people-connecting and in the other, common-interest-connecting.

Although it's true that MySpace has been somewhat flat while Facebook has been growing wildly, telling MySpace to emulate Facebook is not necessarily a good idea. MySpace has its niche and Facebook has its niche. If MySpace tries to emulate Facebook, it loses its identity and core members without necessarily picking up members from Facebook.

Saturday, July 18, 2009, is LIKE Day. Click on every single "Like" you see on Facebook on July 18 (PDT). If you "Like" enough times, something awesome may happen.

Copy this to your Facebook status (and twitter) so everyone knows. The more Likes the better!
