Facebook to Adjust Exchange Rate for Facebook Credits
Facebook has just announced that starting tonight, the exchange rate for Facebook Credits (Facebook’s virtual currency) will be changing by a factor of 10X from $0.01/credit to $0.10/credit. At the same time, Facebook Gifts prices will fall by a factor of 10, keeping gift prices effectively constant. Users’ credit balances will be adjusted as well.
Why is Facebook making the change? Facebook says it wants to “simplify the use of those credit by taking away a zero from gift prices” in order to “make sure that even the smallest amount of credits is meaningful.”
“Now by accumulating as little as 10 credits, you can buy a gift to add more significance to a friend’s birthday, celebrate a special occasion or simply have fun,” Facebook says.
Since migrating to a credit-based currency system last fall, Facebook has been testing a variety of initiatives with its virtual currency, including credit gifts, branded virtual gift credit bundles, and soon, it will launch tests with third party Facebook Platform applications.
In many virtual economies, game designers and economists optimize performance by consistently tweaking exchange rates, and often providing variable price points for different quantities of virtual currency. However, it appears for now that Facebook is keeping it simple at 10 cents per credit with no bulk purchase discounts.
This adjustment will help preserve the value of the Facebook credit. In the future, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Facebook experiment with more sophisticated ways of pricing and selling currency to different users based on their demographic profile, payment layer constraints, and purchase pattern history.

I tried to purchase $20.00 worth of Petville cash. I was told my credit card was declined. I called the credit card company, and was told my credit card is in good standing, which I knew. Facebook, told me the card was declined, yet $1,01 was charged to my account. What are you doing, Facebook? Please correct this problem, or I will lodge a complaint with my credit card company. I never received the credits and have been trying to resolve this.Zynga is trying to help even though it’s not their problem.it’s like after being charged & it’s already on my credit card bill Facebook is done with issue.Not very customer friendly when you call & are referred to a website with very little info to figure out where to go.I would like this resolved.

I am Kirsten’s mother and I charged my credit card with $16.00 so she could get 120 cafe cash to purchase the spoilfree genie!!! This was on July 21,2010 my credit card was charged today is July 23, 2010 and has not yet got her payed for cafe cash of 120. ok –I do not want to sound ungreatful, however, I just figured out how to redeem my facebook credits for farm cash on farmville. From what I read 20 facebook credits = 8 farmcash. I redeemed 10 credits 2 times and received only 4 farmcash. This leaves my one short of getting my much wanted Queen bee. :(

I had to call my Credit Card Company & cancel my Credit Card because I was checking to see what the
86 credits were about…I certainly never authorized any credit card payments…I am very upset that You
charged my card $5.00 or 10 cents without my authorizing such an action…I can’t believe you did that…How would you like for someone to charge you for something you didn’t authorize??? Oh and Im not suprized about Lori’s problem with not getting cafe cash she purchased…I tried to buy 100 pk of instant thyme & got 10 packs for 99 cafe cash I tried again and it ripped me off for another 99 cafe cash…spent 198 cafe cash and only recieved 20 packs…Thats just wrong…Shame on FaceBook….Sent email about the problem…they sent word they needed certain info…I supplied them with the information they needed…To date I Have never heard another word about it…I don’t mind paying for what I really want…but to buy the cash bucks for whatever game and then to be ripped off when you spend them is dishonest…I guess if you take something from me that’s ok in your eyes…but just let me take something from you and It would be a different set of rules…You would let me know right away how WRONG & unfair such action on my part would be, of that I am sure…Put yourself in all of the people out there that feel they have been taken advantage of…Just pretend someone ripped off your MOM or Dad…Or Grandmother…Then maybe just maybe you will get the Picture!!!

So sad to see all the poor people on here think that someone from Facebook is actually monitoring this page or cares about peoples’ credit card transactions. Posts like this only help to show where this world is going. Watch the movie Idiocracy and maybe you’ll understand.
For all the people on here that complain they have no money… how is it that you’re purchasing ‘fake’ money on Facebook? For real, hmmm, groceries for the babies … or points to buy things on my fake farm? Ahhh, what a toss up.
Anyway, sorry but perhaps posting here will do nothing to help anyone. If anyone here at least reads this, maybe they will stop and think twice before charging their credit cards full of fake things. Spend your money at a store and buy someone a real, tangible gift.

This is so unbelievable, I paid for 250 credits where did they go Mars? I don’t see them posted, I held off a long time before making the purchase because the game was inaccurate somebody was stealing I see why those people drive planes into buildings there is too much stealing going on like people are waiting to be taken by machinery. That is sooo wrong something has to be done to correct it and soon they will not be my new world, they blew in the old one.

my underage handicapped daughterbmade 2 seperate charges on my credit card here and it was not authorized I can not figure out how to get a number to facebook yo get these credits reversed i never wanted the 2 100.00 charges and they where never authorized by me. I was charged 5 dollars 3 times on Dec.3.10 and 10 2 times on dec.3.10 and the only charged i should have on there is 20 dollars that i know for sure i approved of. I purchased a facebook credit card. I have tried to find the page on facebook to use it and I can not find it please let me know how and where I can use it so that I don’t have a bill on facebook. Because I hell if I’m going to give you my credit card number after reading all of these post!!

Hi, I’m right up there with the rest of these people; I’ve been charged three times, twice for $149.90, and once for $1.50. My granddaughter was playing games on my account so I thought she’d done it by mistake: she is only 7 years old and didn’t know what I was talking about when I asked her about it so I just figured she did this without realizing it is real money we’re talking about. Well, after reading all of these posts, I’m starting to wonder if it is just something someone is doing to people who have their debit/credit cards on facebook. I took mine off immediately and have been trying to contact someone with facebook everyday since then, sometimes many times a day. I’m wondering if anyone here ever got their money reimbursed or not. If not, I believe we should all file a joint suit against facebook! This is not right!! I’m am overdrawn in my checking account now and got overdraft charges and will be having automatic withdrawals done anyday for some of my bills. I cannot afford this to be happening as I’m sure not many can. Please have someone contact me!!!

I would apprecciate it if someone would contact me before I contact my bank and dispute charges recently found on my statement removing funds from my account when I have not authorized any transfers of funds in some time. I recently removed my credit card information from your website if I find any further charges on my card I AM NOT GOING TO BE HAPPY AND NEITHER ARE YOU…I would like my 29.80 returned to my card that was falsely removed on January 10,2011 on 2 seperate occassions on that day adding up to the referred to amount.

2-9-11 I bought 465 cityville bucks for $52.50..put on my credit card….went thru expecting to be put into my acct….checked my bank,you were paid,got trans# and receipt#….called live chat and they told me to call your #,which I did,they assured me,I would talk to someone LIVE,excuse me,typing isn’t live!!!!!!
