Extremely interesting...amazing how the apps side of FB has become it's own multi-million dollar business helping people make a living online. The social aspects of gamer social networks such as http://gamefriends.com shows this space isn't slowing down anytime soon.

I founded the MyPersonality application on Facebook, the results of which are being used to do research into personality. Social networks provide a great opportunity not only to reach large numbers of participants from many cultural backgrounds, but also to let them participate in the research and get benefit from it themselves.

I'd be interested to hear from any other academics who are doing their research on social networks.
