Version 2.1 of Facebook for iPhone Application Released
Facebook has released version 2.1 of its Facebook for iPhone application that primarily improves stability and includes several bug fixes and usability enhancements since version 2.0.
Facebook for iPhone, which is now used by over 4.5 million people per month (and is one of the most popular iPhone applications overall), was originally released in July of last year. Version 2.0, which added a full News Feed, notifications, photo tagging, and a fuller profile view, launched in September. Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg said last week that over 20 million people are now accessing Facebook on mobile platforms.
The updates in version 2.1 include:
- Fewer crashes
- Time stamps are now correct for all time zones
- Sync no longer takes a long time
- Scrolls to the newest message in an inbox thread
- Loads long inbox threads faster
- Duplicate friends no longer appear
- Fixed bug that caused pages to go blank
- Other bug fixes
To get Facebook for iPhone, you can download it free from the App Store.

Timestamps on the newsfeed are off by 3 hours for me. And I still see duplicate friends. And it still crashes some.

When are we going to have access to Events on the Facebook iPhone? I think it is ridiculous that the iphone.facebook.com allows me to see my events details and not the iPhone app.
I can’t remember how many times I loaded my iPhone App to check the address or time of an event I RSVP’d on Facebook just to have to open safari and check it there. This is VERY frustrating and very disapointing.

Got my iPhone a month ago and downloaded the Facebook App ver 2.1. I am getting duplicate friend entries. As many as five for some, others two, three and four. I found this page as I am surfing for a solution.

Ditto on the lack of correct timestamping. It’s timestamping everything according to Pacific time, while I’m really in Eastern Time.
