The Recently Used Applications Menu Returns

After several months of limbo, Facebook has finally decided to re-implement the recently used applications menu. The new Facebook profile design initially had the “recently used” list in the applications dropdown on the top menu bar, but when the applications menu was repositioned into the bottom-left corner with the onset of application bookmarking, it was removed.

The primary purpose of the menu is to help users find applications they have recently visited but may not have bookmarked for one reason or another. Facebook is leaving the possibility open for further improvements if testing warrants it.

From a developer’s point of view, this is a welcomed change. Almost three months has passed (along with a 6-page forum thread) since the popular opinion to resurrect the old menu first surfaced. However, due to this change, recent dev tool improvments, and improved communication from the Platform Team, the general opinion on the developer forums has taken a positive turn.
