Hi Anu

I really like the content of your post and would love to talk to someone in your organisation regarding integration with your platform. I have been unsuccessful in getting a response from email, telephone messages and have even resorted to a fax to try to get some attention. Please could you get someone in your customer service team to call or email.

Many thanks
Wendy

Hi Anu
Great post. I really liked it.
I am a german student and I currently writing my diploma thesis about virtual items in Social Networks and Virtual Worlds. I want to develop a method to estimate the size of the primary market of virtual goods. To make my estimation as valid as possible I need more data of virtual item sales in Virtual Worlds or in Social Networks. Now I am looking for more figures and sources about Active Users or Unique Users of other companies, which have revenues from virtual items. Perhaps you can help me. I would really appreciate every further advice.

Greetings from Germany

Thanks Sundeep. Yes, we imagine that such cross-platform currency would be a powerful opportunity. One example today is to look at Acclaim Games -- www.acclaim.com -- where users can earn "Acclaim Coins" that are good for any of the dozen or so games they operate. Don't be surprised if you start seeing more of this.

Great post Anu. I think all your tips above are right on.

I think one of the key drawbacks of most of the virtual economies is the fact that they are micro. IMO, there is limited value in me obtaining a bunch of points / levels / assets in a particular game / social network if it is locked into that game, and cannot be leveraged anywhere else.

If one is able to unlock assets and leverage / trade them for something else, or if I am able to carry my virtual goods across platforms and applications, I think it opens up a whole new level of relevancy to the user. Clearly a tough nut to solve, but could be a huge opportunity as well ..

Would love to hear your thoughts on it ..
