Facebook Adding More App Metrics for Developers Today

Just yesterday, we looked at new Facebook application analytics companies providing deeper insights into engagement and virality for developers. Later this afternoon, Facebook will be turning on new metrics and visualizations for application data in the Developer Insights admin console.

Specifically, Facebook will be aggregating the following stats:

  • Canvas page views
  • Clicks on profile boxes
  • Confirmation of feed forms
  • Adding and removing of app bookmarks

Facebook will also provide graphing tools to show this data over custom date ranges to help developers see trends in their apps.

Taken together, these new tools will give developers better ways of doing basic usability and A/B testing with their applications. While third party analytics tools will probably always be necessary for more advanced application optimization, Facebook’s philosophy of providing more powerful metrics to developers is essential for increasing the quality of Platform applications overall.
