Great candid post, Salil. It’s definitely ‘deja vu all over again.’ But as you say, let those who take aim at the obvious be forewarned. (Still, one can’t help but feel for the teams who worked 16-hour days on chat, right up until FB announced its own.)

The take-aways in your lesson are right on. Not much we can do about (b), only hope that FB listens. But (a) is the job we have cut out for us.

At CHALLENJ, there’s a lot about the ‘social gaming utility’ app we’re developing that keep us up at night -- but FB introducing our functionality as a feature isn’t one of them. Nonetheless, the ever-shifting sands underlying all the platforms make us yearn for simpler times when it was just ‘Mac or PC?’

We’re glad to see Bay Partners bobbing and weaving along with their portfolio companies through it all. To succeed, we all have to be nimbler than ever before.
