Facebook has turned on new ad units as part of the profile and home page redesign. While the format of the ad units themselves hasn’t changed significantly, their location on the page has become more prominent - and a new ad unit has been created on the home page.

1. Profile Page & Canvas Page

Profile and canvas page ads are now located on the top right side of the page, instead of below the left nav. Facebook is stacking two ad units on top of each other and linking to “More Ads.”

2. Home Page

Facebook has added a new ad unit to the right rail of the home page under the “Sponsor” sub-heading. This is prime real estate, and appears to be filled with house ads while Facebook breaks users in. Can you count the number of links to invite new friends to Facebook?
