Leader of Facebook Data Team Departs
July 10th, 2008
Jeff Hammerbacher, the manager of the team within Facebook responsible for collecting, managing, and analyzing the large volumes of data that Facebook’s 80 million active users create, is leaving Facebook, according to VentureBeat.
While the reason for the departure is not known, the decision comes at the heels of other executive departures in recent months, including Matt Cohler and Adam D’Angelo.
The data challenges at Facebook are surely not boring, so that was likely not the reason for the move. Hammerbacher explained the Facebook Data Team’s philosophy and goals in this recent presentation.
