Heads up to MySpace app developers: the MySpace Developer Platform team just gave notice that in 2 days the canvas page will be going from 800 to 960 pixels wide. MySpace’s Brandon Black writes,

We apologize for not being able to give you more advanced notice than this, but with this week’s deployment (probably Wednesday or Thursday) the canvas page will widen from 800px wide to 960px. This is the result of an overall site redesign by another team outside of MDP here at MySpace…

If you choose not to use all that space, and don’t mind the white space on either side of your application then it will be fine for  you to keep your app 800px wide. Your app won’t be denied for maintaining an 800px width provided it meets all other criteria and it doesn’t contain any major visual defects.
