1 Billion Applications Served
May 22nd, 2008
On the eve of the Facebook Platform’s 1 year anniversary, Facebook has just passed its 1,000,000,000th application installed.
Even if most apps created during the first year of the Platform turn out to be flashes in the pan, it’s clear Facebook has created one of the most powerful channels for software distribution ever. How long did it take other major software platforms to reach their 1 billionth application installation?

Weak metric. Most apps are flashes in the pan, most users don’t return to apps, and most apps are in the red. One billion is just a misleading number.

Also, the number of Adonomics is a really estimate. For large apps they can be off by a few million. Just look at how much, say, Top Friends’ install numbers change from day to day according to Adonomics.
It’s total garbage.
I wouldn’t trust any of the numbers from Adonomics.
