		<description>I agree. I should say however, that the next logical step is for the brands to sponsor entire apps themselves, not just advertise on them with others. 

We started our startup focused completely on making brandable web apps. (Our first three are standalone, but we&#039;ll do some for facebook/myspace/et al soon.) 

Our perspective is that the widget is an evolution of the banner ad. It&#039;s a banner that users distribute where they want. The moment that transition happened, advertisers realized that they had to make the widget do something that users actually wanted. This is a good thing. Useful advertising! (Or at least, advertising that&#039;s attempting to be useful.)

The apps we and others build whether they be standalone or integrated into a social network are just expanded versions of these branded widgets. It&#039;s where brand advertising is heading for sure. The engagement is high. The sponsorship and branding opportunities are numerous. And the cost is relatively inexpensive.</description>
