Jeff Hammerbacher on Facebook’s approach to data and analytics

A couple of weeks ago at Yahoo’s January Brickhouse event, Facebook’s head of data and analytics, Jeff Hammerbacher, gave a good presentation about Facebook’s philosophy, challenges, and goals. In his talk, Jeff describes what it’s like to manage very high volumes of rapidly changing and sensitive Facebook user data, what tools Facebook uses to store user data, and Facebook’s intention to release many of the tools they’ve developed under open source licenses.
