A friend new to facebook does not want notificiations in his email that he has a message on facebook waiting for him. Can he turn it off?

Hi Facebook Team,
I was chatting on Facebook with a friend this morning and a message popped up: A bust of a human head, a red circle and message said ” You are not allowed to do that” meaning me. What am I not allowed to do what? Only thing I can think of is I spelled the word crap! Is this why? If so, please email me and let me know.

While I know some will absolutely love this feature, I myself (a heavy user of Facebook) am very disappointed. The whole appeal for Facebook for myself is to see that I had some activity on my Facebook (hence the reason I opt to be notified) so I can go check it out. It’s about the suspense and excitement about “seeing” what your friends have done. If I wanted the message in the notification, I’d just have them send me an email. Facebook is forgetting there’s a whole emotional set that goes into why people use their site over email, MySpace, instant messengers, and blogs – just to name a few.
