Facebook already decided to shutdown their official gift application. Now third party developers have a huge opportunity to capture $100 Million market of virtual goods.

We got lots of queries about gifting application after this announcement.

I think they can be complementary. Besides they will never offer the same 'designer' gifts as the gifts app - which is just fine, but different.

I personally do not pay for gifts, and I like being able to add them to wall messages too :)

hello,

Although free gifts is very popular and almost everyone uses it. It is totally different from "gifts" because the gifts cost money. So, the gift would mean more and the free gifts are for those gifts that you want to send but not having to pay for them. Having both free and the one that costs money, gives Facebook users more choices to choose from.

THANKS FREE GIFT!!

Hi,

I really think Free Gifts is pointless, I would much rather pay for the gifts as it cuts down how many are sent, and makes them that little more valuable, + It's generates profit for facebook, some of which is donated to charity, I think proper gifts are worth more as your willing to make the effort, rather than depreciate the thought of giving them..

Great interview, but it would have interesting to learn your thoughts on the fact that Free Gifts undermines Facebook's revenue stream in paid Gifts...!

Any concerns that they may try to tame you at some point?
